Date: Saturday 27th June 2020 Time: 13:00-16:00hrs
Details of the Event
CAHN will be holding its first ever Virtual Windrush Celebration event via the ZOOM platform and live streamed on YouTube and Facebook.
The day will consist of a variety of performances, speeches and presentations engaging audience as we celebrate together Windrush Day 2020. The event is scheduled for 4 hours and allows attendees to be able to drop in and out of the virtual event depending on their availability on the day.
Activities on the Day
We also ask to have speeches from people of influence to welcome the event and to also talk about the history and significance of the Windrush Celebration. E.g. the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, Manchester Councils, Local MPs etc.
We aim to have some performances from the young people within the community (KYSO Youth Club and CAHN Young). For instance, such as: musical performances; dance performances; poetry and visual presentations (either pre-recorded or LIVE depending on the individual).
Physical fitness sessions will held on the day as well, in replacement of our Windrush Health Walk that would have taken place in the Alexandra Park.
Positive Steps: The Wind Generation Project aim to have at least one of their Windrush storytellers present an audio recording or live reading of the story on the day.
Other activities include a slideshow of photograph visuals of families who are Windrush survivors as adverts during the short breaks within the event.
