PERCY AKUDO

Percy is the Business Development and Impact Manager at CAHN,

He holds an Undergraduate degree in Medical Science and a master’s degree in Global Public Health from MMU.

He is also a Public and Social health enthusiast. Over recent years, he has developed an interest in healthcare analytics and digital medicine.

The bulk of his role involves monitoring and supporting CAHN’s strategic growth and sustainability, whilst leaning on analytical methods and systems to capture the impact of our projects and initiatives.

Counselling Senior Manager

Rosalyn Magowan

Rosalyn Magowan is the Counselling Senior Manager at the Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN). Her role at CAHN is to coordinate, lead and develop our counselling service. Rosalyn brings to CAHN twenty years’ experience of counselling and psychotherapy, as well as being a Tutor. She is a Registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP). Rosalyn holds a BSc Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Salford. She loves people and that comes across with her engagement within the various communities and staff. Her visionary perspective has enabled the counselling service to strive and gain much traction as CAHN begins to move from being local to a national service. She loves working with difference and diversity. Her achievement thus far within CAHN began with the “Black Single Mothers Project” enabling women to meet and share their issues. However, during the Pandemic, Rosalyn and her incredibly small team were able to work unto a “blank Slate” which has now provided a sense of pride in developing the counselling service to where they are presently. Outside of the office Rosalyn is committed to education, empowering others, and travelling.

Head of Community Empowerment and Advocacy

Sandy Koujou

Head of Community Empowerment and Advocacy Team

Sandy is passionate about activities that involve working with people, but more importantly, understanding these people regardless of their background. In her quest to create positive change, she is taking full advantage of her past experiences as a Corporate Consultant as well as a Public Speaker to empower individuals as well as victims of domestic and sexual violence. In doing so, she uses her linguistic skills (Certified UK translator French & Spanish) to break language barriers.

In her role as the Head of Community Engagement and Empowerment at CAHN, Sandy endeavours to work closely with community groups and statutory organisations to identify partnership opportunities in delivering CAHN’s mission to end health and social inequalities within a generation. She dedicates her time to create positive change and advocate for better social policies.

SUSTAINABILITY LEAD

JAMES MURPHY

James’ motivation lies in extending the benefits, opportunities, and experiences he has had to as many people as possible, from as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible.

He has watched with interest the beginnings of an understanding from within our sector/community of the very real issues and challenges we face to be more equitable, diverse, and inclusive. This can be seen a positive and progressive acknowledgment, and a change that has transformative potential for the future of the sector at all levels; from individuals engaging for the first-time post emergency, right through to the more visible and public challenges faced by our established, existing, and surviving community.  We are encouraged and impressed to see real leadership being demonstrated in integrating inclusivity considerations into sectoral evolution at the most senior level.

James is a driven and committed individual, an advocate for social justice, centring the primacy of equity, inclusion, and diversity in his 13+ years’ experience in the sector.

As an amateur competitive cyclist and life-long learner, he seeks out and tackles demanding, often complex routes with flexibility, implementing adaptive strategies.
